Chase's Veggie Tales First Birthday Party
My son is Veggie Tales' biggest fan, so when he turned one it was obvious that his first birthday party theme would be Veggie Tales. My mom helped me make some cute decorations. I found some Veggie Tales T-Shirts on their website. So I decided to pick some up for our family and also for Chase. I customized Chase's T-Shirts with iron on letters that I picked up at Michael's Craft Store.
Veggie Tales Birthday Cake
The cake was inspired by Teresa Cunha. I asked our Dominican Baker to make us a "Dulce de Leche" filling and to decorate it with just the light blue frosting. I purchased the fondant at Michael's and made the decorations on the cake myself. It was rather difficult since I had never experimented with Rice Krispies and fondant before, not to mention that my contractions started to get really strong. I was pregnant with my second son and I was getting really bad labor pains while I was decorating this cake. Thank goodness I managed to get the right consistency to the Rice Krispies and was able to create the Larry and Bob characters just on time. Early the next day Eden Michael was born at 9 lb.. 3oz.
My good friend Amanda from Mandy's Sweets made the cookies. She is amazing and I love all of her designs. These cookies were totally delish!
I made these small card stock holders for the Dunkin Donuts Munchkins. And printed two sides "Chase is One" and "God Bless Chase"
Veggie Cupcake Toppers
The cupcake toppers included all the Veggie Tale characters. The cupcakes were ordered from Brooklyn Cupcakes, my favorite cupcake place in New York. Some of the fillings included "Dulce de Leche, Tres Leche, Red Velvet and Oreo". Yum, Yum delicious!!
Centerpieces and Personalized Favor Bags
We had Chase's family and friends join us for his party and made them personalized favor bags. Inside the bags I included candy, toys and plenty of more surprises. For the centerpieces I used Bob, Larry and some other Veggie Tales characters. I painted the dowel sticks and inserted it to the styrofoam. I placed the styrofoam in the plastic bucket and covered it with shredded blue paper. I added small chalkboards with bible scriptures to complement the theme.
